Fresh mint, white rum, loads of lime. Cuba's greatest gift to a hot evening.

A note from us

The mint technique makes or breaks a mojito. Press the stem gently to release the aroma — never crush the leaves or you will get a bitter, muddy drink. Cane sugar is more traditional than simple syrup and gives a slightly different texture that feels more authentic.

How to make it 👨‍🍳

1

Add the mint and sugar to the glass. Using a muddler press down on the mint STEMS gently and twist — you want to release the oils not shred the leaves. Over-muddling mint makes it bitter and turns it an unpleasant dark colour. Just a gentle press is all you need — 4 or 5 firm twists and stop.

2

Add the Fresh lime juice and stir briefly.

3

Fill the glass with Ice.

4

Pour in the White rum.

5

Top with Soda water and give it one slow stir.

6

Garnish with the lime wedge and mint sprig. Slap the mint sprig between your palms first — it wakes up the aroma.
